Poetic answer to a Sagebrush Prayer
This wonderful poem was written in response to my earlier blog post, "Sagebrush Prayer". It was hidden in the responses, and I wanted to be sure you had a chance to read and enjoy it. T. She came to the field as she did every year.
In her tattered jeans and hand-me-down boots.
A bit of sage gently wrapped in her hand
Carried in the breeze that scent of the wild land
She turned left and right, not a herd to be heard not a filly to be found.
Year after year they came to eat the sage off her fingertips, fewer came every season, those velvety lips..
Now the earth was barren, a mother without her children
And she stood silent, a sage with dying sage, and she knew.

great blog i was wondering if you would write a sequel to the seven tears into the sea book readers wanna know cuz it was so sad how it ended
ps i just read the poem too;
sad about Sage not being harvested by the wild mustangs
as it was...
with less Mustangs; the vines and choking weeds will cover Calico...
Man does not understand Mother Nature; which is bad for the lands;
Wild Mustangs are an asset to man !
not a problem! Mustangs Rule! anna
