HORSE MATH


Dear Readers,
If you've gotten to know me online or through my books, you can probably guess that I'm not too good at math.
So, I need your help.

If Twin Peaks wild horse range in California is 798,000 acres
BLM says the Appropriate Management Levelfor the land is 448 -758 mustangs

How many wild horses will BLM allow PER ACRE?

Comments: The most horses that BLM would allow per acre is about 1781. The least amount of horses that would be allowed per acre is about 1052. Found these numbers using the highest and lowest amount of horses that BLM considers managable.
  Well you have more acres than horses so I'm assumeing you meant how many acres per horse right?? I'm a little confused but I hope I helped a little. =)
798,000/ 448= 1781.25
798,000/ 758= 1052.77

So from my understanding the BLM will allow 1781.25 to 1052.77 acres per individual horse.

Is this at all what you were asking for??

  603 horses per 798000 acres would be equivalent to...*takes out calculator*

.000756 horses per one acre. That's just sad. With horses in captivity, the rule of thumb is 1-2 acres of pasture per horse. But this is less than one-thousandth of a horse per acre!

  So one-thousandth of a horse might be the tip of a tail. Yeah, I guess I was being a little sarcastic.
This word problem is proof that BLM won't be satisfied until there are no horses at all.

  I would guesstimate the BLM says:

One Mustang or Burro requires about 1,000 acres of land...

ummm...i could put 500 Mustangs on 1,000 acres with water and feed;

I would collect rain water by digging small cement water holes;

so each rainfall fills water hole;

then I wouldn't have to haul water
like the BLM says they do...Anna

  That's one horse for every 1,781 acres. ONE HORSE! I think it should be more like one HERD for ever 1,781 acres.
That way, we get 448 - 758 herds of wild horses to watch, love, and enjoy! <3 <3 <3
