Not Quite a Win
Dear Readers,
The news on horse slaughter legislation is mixed.
I made a mistake in my blog the other day. Actually TWO of the horse slaughter houses are in Texas and the chairman of the committee trying to make sure they stay open represents Texas.
My grandfather (who was a lot like Wyatt, in the Phantom books) was a Texan and I know many Texans don't agree with this, so keep an eye on your Congressmen and Senators.
The decision made last night says that horses can't be inspected as horsemeat (that's good) after
120 DAYS! That's bad, since horses can be slaughtered all through the holidays until after Valentine's Day.
Another sneaky move being discuss by some Congressmen is killing the horses in the U.S., but sending their bodies to other countries for inspection -- thus getting around this law.
If you'd like to read more, here's a link to a very balanced article

I'd like to give hugs to each of you who called to support the horses -- so here's a cyber-hug -- Thanks!
Best to you,
Terri
