No WILD HORSE Steaks, please
Dear Readers,
US Department of Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns is still deciding whether three foreign owned horse slaughter houses should remain open. Rumor says he has the backing of President Bush -- called "the man who wears the spurs" by Conrad Burns, the one who proposed the Burns Amendment which destroyed wild horses' protection.
But the President hasn't gone public with his approval for the horse slaughter factories and maybe he won't if Secretary Johanns hears from YOU.
Can you spend five minutes keeping a horse from dying in confused pain? Really, if you skipped the commercials during
one TV show today and wrote an email instead, you might keep a horse from ending up on a plate.
Write to Mike Johanns at mike.johanns@usda.gov or call (202)-720-3631.
Want to know what to tell him?
For most Americans:
WILD HORSES AREN'T WHAT'S FOR DINNER.
