Wild Honey
Dear Readers,
This is amazing. Usually the wonderful letters and emails taper off a little bit after my books have been out for a couple weeks, but that hasn't been true for
WILD HONEY.
It's been out since July 1 and you're still being so enthusiastic that I'm getting more notes from you, instead of fewer.
I loved writing WILD HONEY! It was so much fun!
I've been thinking about a police horse story ever since I went to New York a month after September 11th.
I've always been a nervous flyer, so I took the train all the way from Reno, Nevada, to New York City. My friend Lynda Sandoval (author of WHO'S YOUR DADDY)who'd just stopped being a police office to write full-time, got on the train in Denver, Colorado and we rode the train all that way, sleeping in our seats because we're both pretty short.
Although New York was full of justifiably nervous people, everyone was nice, especially at Harpercollins.
When I visited my publisher's offices for the first time, they showed me the artwork for the first PHANTOM STALLION cover. It was so beautiful, my eyes filled with tears.
That night, Lynda and I went to a play on Broadway and when we came out, officers were patrolling on police horses.
I knew Lynda was afraid of horses, but I teased her that she shouldn't be scared to go up and visit with a "fellow officer" even if he had four legs and a tail.
"No way," she said, then added that she'd rather face a dozen bad guys.
Isn't that amazing?
Talk with you later
amigas &
amigos,
Terri
