Making It Easy to Put Horses on the Table
Dear Readers,
Yesterday I shared a rumor that the Secretary of Agriculture was about to make it easier to slaughter horses.
Today, he did it.
Secretary of Agriculture Johanns announced a rule change that will allow for the plants to pay for their own inspections allowing the CONTINUATION OF
SLAUGHTER OF HORSES in our country.
Please contact your state representatives in Congress and tell them you do not want horses slaughtered for human consumption.
One of the quickest ways to express your opinion about this is to go to the American Humane Society's website and click on the instant letter. Just cut and paste this into your browser:
https://community.hsus.org/humane/notice-description.tcl?newsletter_id=3739282
Read the letter and click where it says: TAKE ACTION.
This is your chance to let the government know YOU ARE WATCHING and you care what happens to horses.
I've said it before, but I have to repeat: The horses would thank you if they could.
You can make a difference!
Please help,
Terri Farley
