My favorite fish

Can you believe that these Siamese Fighting fish -- also called Bettas -- are native to rice paddies in Cambodia and Thailand? Imagine looking into the water and seeing them fluttering their look colorful fins around!

Comments: I really like the red one in the middle! :)
Im looking at mine right now as I type! =0) it is sooo interesting to see how they reproduce.. The Male makes a bubble nest at the top of the water and then when the female lays her eggs they sink to the bottom. Both parents pick up the eggs and put them in the buble nest until they hatch. Then both parents have to be removed because they will kill each other or eat the eggs and young. I still love horses the best.. but God created such amazing little critters

I read they live in mud puddles. That is a lesson in itself, don't you think?
  Absolutely, Vaquerogirl!
A lesson I'll remember, too.
Will I see you in VC next month?
Bettas are lovely fish! :) I own one in my 10 gallon tropical aquarium (named Angel). Wild bettas don't have very bright colors or large fins, though. They're generally greenish brown and have small, round fins.
