The Hunger Games

Dear Readers,
This weekend I've been driving & listening to a book on tape, THE HUNGER GAMES. It's a young adult novel and my husband didn't think he'd enjoy it, but once we started, he couldn't get the next cd in fast enough!
Believe me, descriptions of this book don't convey the adventure, suspense and amazing characterization. Katniss Everdeen should be hard to love, but she's not.
Who: 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, lives alone with her mother and younger sister; she is their protector in every way
What: volunteer for the Reaping -- 1 boy and 1 girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV
When: chapter one!
Where: the ruins of a place once known as North America
Why: because if she doesn't go, her little sister must.

  Wow! It sounds like a mysterious book!!
  sounds like an interesting story, but a fight to the death (involving people no less) over food? Hmm...I'm not so sure about that part! lol
