Update on the Phantom

Dear Readers,
Here's a note Shirley "wild horse angel" Allen said I could share with you:

Hi, Wanted to drop a note to update everyone on Phantom's gang. We left early yesterday morning and had a beautiful drive to Shingletown Sanctuary. Diane and Tim met us and we took Phantom and Wife (I've been calling her Shy since no one seemed to have a name for her) to their holding area. Their holding pen is about 1/2 acre or more so they immediately got out to explore and meet the other horse kids across the fence.
In Phantom's true gentleman fashion, he trotted to the fence and talked with the others, no squealing, pawing or rearing, just a Hi-how-are-you? meeting. Little Shy followed when he let her know it was ok.
They will be in holding corrals while they are introduced to new horses and surroundings for a few weeks. After their settling period they will be released out on the most beautiful 5000 acres of land you've ever seen. Shingletown is approx. 2.5 miles wide and 3 miles long of rolling grassy pasture with hugh ponds, little streams, wonderful Digger Pines/Oak Trees etc. and this follows up to the mountains where there is wonderful assortment of brush and Pine Trees.
We took a walk out among all the horse kids and got to visit with Chester (note: he lived in the Virginia Range, near the Phantom) a VRWPA horse that we sent there a few years back. He had severe hip problems. He is doing just great along with all the others. We saw Red and Windwalker also just out being happy and content.
This is truly "Horsey Heaven" and it's Heaven just being out there for us "two leggers" also. We will be going up for his release onto the Sanctuary and we will get pics of Phantom and Shy to share with everyone.
Little guy "Dancer" has been adopted by local folks and will be staying here close to home. He has new name, Raincloud. For those who haven't seen him, he is a very handsome and striking little guy. He is "Gruellaish" colored right now hence the grayish rain cloud coloring. Rain did pretty well when we left yesterday. They did call to each other of course when I loaded Phantom and Shy but he did settle down fairly quickly and was fine the rest of the day, hanging around with Appy Gilmore and Cocoa Bear. I have to admit that was difficult as I was trying not to cry and let on around Rain when we were leaving.
Sheila Aerick was surrogate Mom yesterday for Rain. She kept check on him throughout the day and called us with periodic updates. When we got home last night, he actually trotted right up to me to get his dinner. His new Mom and family are coming today to start the bonding process. It will be nice to have him so close and watch him grow into Phantom's legacy.
I think that's all the update for right now.I just want to thank EVERY SINGLE PERSON that became involved with this rescue effort. I won't list names as there are so many that love these guys and helped but we do have to send special KUDOS to Wild Horse Protection League and everyone that helped them. Carol Johnson, Nan Pearson, Terri Farley and Bonnie Matton worked like MAD to raise the money that we had to have for this to be a TOTALLY successful. We are never happy when any of our horse or donks kids come in off the range but if this had to be, then we certainly couldn't have ask for better outcome. Thanks and Love again to ALL."
