Honeybandit news

> For the first time in 10 days. HoneyBandit does not have a catheter in and does not require fluids every hour.

> Sadly he doest have what might be a hernia - a weak spot which could let his intestines escape from his body. It could just go away!

Palomino says: Having a deaf horse does not bother me, nor does training a deaf horse. What really really bothers me is that being able to talk to a foal in this condition is a huge part of the rehab.
Sometimes at night, as he dreams, his little hooves are moving and he is whinnying in his sleep. Who is he calling? Is a helicopter part of his nightmares? Is it bearing down on him, pushing his family further and further away?
We can only pray that he will someday get his hearing back."

Comments: Being deaf is just another challenge God put upon HB and Palomino. Maybe you can teach him signs to communicate like deaf people have. Touch is just as important as sound.

Honey Bandit is goingt to be CHILLY PEPPER's best friend when he gets better. If there's a horse language those two will be taking about their expieriences all day. But HB is still a baby. He's going to get better, you'll see.

I was with Palomino and Bandit Sunday night. I heard Bandit whicker in the night twice. Chino (one of the dogs) would look right at me like--did you hear that??!!! Then I heard a definite nicker from him around 3 am. He was sound asleep so you could say he was talking in his sleep.

He would rustle on his little bed and his legs would kick around like restless leg sydrome.

He is an absolute joy to be with. He is very fussy about not wanting his foal lac and tries to insist on regular hay. After it sits for a long time he will eat it. Not sure if its the pellets he doesn't like or if he just "gives up" and eats his veggies.

To be sure he ate for 2 1/2 hours yesterday afternoon on his pellets, goats milk and hay. After that he went over to his bed and very horsie like lay down and went to sleep.

another day of excellent news; HoneyBandit will get better fast !

I am sorry to hear of the hernia tho; I hope this goes away; ques.

was HoneyBandit an Orphan from the BLM ? Does the BLM know what happened to the Mother? pretty sad

Hey Honeybandit; you can make it !

ps there are also probiotics to use
ps I was just reading how HoneyBandit likes the be near the dogs; she probably relates to them as a remeinder of her lost herd...

wildlife and domestic animals alike
all are good; all are great...amen!
he is alive... that is all that would matter and does to me. I pray the colt does recieve his hearing back but at least there is hope for a chance at life for him.

I was there the entire weekend. It was amazing to watch him go from nearly dead, to the tail swishing, to his playing with the dogs. And I he made a new friend Patches and mini at Chilly Pepper's Rescue!
More and more just keeps piling on top of Honey's plate. But from what Terri posted ,straight from Palomino I think, HB sounds like even though he's sick he's not letting it bring him down. Mustangs are a tough breed that just keep running even if there is a giant, loud choppper chasing them. But sometimes there spirit is broken, and I don't want to believe that happens, but it does. HB is NOT that mustang, he just keeps on keepin' on, sick or not. I'd just love to see that fire inside a mustang glow and glow until it's brighter than the sun. But I can't, and neither can the rest of the eastern coast. Maybe one day we can have a wild horse reserve over here, man-made. But I'm going off topic.

Everybody thinks it, I KNOW it, and HB knows it too. If you have a wonderful family to back you up, you can never, ever, fall down.

I would say If the Foal prefers the Hay to the FoaLlac Pellets; this is a good sign...I would let the Foal decide what he wants to eat; If HB is drinking Goat's Milk then this is the best type of nutrition; Goats Milk has Protein; vitamins; minerals; natural probiotics; so you say HoneyBandit is eating Hay (and some pellets ?

Excellent news ! Good Honey Bandit!
hugs to you dear Foal; and health !ps Resting is important for HB...(when HB rests; the nutrients get uptaken and utilized by his system!

U rock honey bandit ! luv and hugs!
